continental drift

This activity made me realize that once upon a time the continents were all together and drifted apart. I learned this by doing the activity. We had to color code everything that went together such as the mountain ranges and resources. Then we cut them out and tried to fit them together matching up the colors. After doing this it shows you how by the way the continents all fit together that once they were like that.

The theory of continental drift, plate tectonics, and sea floor spreading all helped this happen. Continental drift is the theory that the continents slid over the ocean floor. Plate tectonics is the theory holds that the entire crust of the earth is broken into six large pieces (plates) and many smaller ones, that any plate may consist, in part, of ocean floor and, in part, of a continent or islands. Sea floor spreading is the theory of continents spreading over the ocean floor.
